Description
Cerulean Villa opened in 1997 to rave reviews in both the American and European press and was voted one of the top 25 beach houses in the world by Conde Nast Traveller. Boasting an A-list clientele, that reads like a who’s who of the entertainment and financial industries, Cerulean quickly became one of the most popular villas in the Caribbean, with a high rate of repeat customers. Cerulean was founded on the principle that it would offer its guests a private resort; with all the amenities of a five star hotel and the intimacy of a beautiful home. Always looking for ways to improve Cerulean became the first villa to have both a private spa and in-house Kid’s Club. As one writer put it “Cerulean quite simply set the standard that all others now seek to follow.”
This stunning seven bedroom estate was designed by world renowned architect Deborah Berke and is located directly on the beach at Barnes Bay. The staff of fourteen, including general manager, gourmet chef, and a team of maids and butlers, caters to their guests every need, from small touches such as serving cool refreshing towels poolside to the more complicated, like arranging the only private fireworks display in Anguilla for the New Year.
Interiors
Cerulean is extremely open and airy; with high ceilings and louvered French doors that open to the sea in all of the rooms. The floors are imported stone tile and most of the furniture was designed specifically for the house and made by craftsmen in both Mexico and Morocco.
All of the seven bedrooms are large and overlook the sea. Each room has its own private entrance as well as a terrace with a comfortable seating arrangement. Two of the bedrooms have domed ceilings, and they are all air-conditioned with walk in closets. There is a phone in each, as well as wireless internet connections, and cable access for mobile televisions.
All of the bedrooms have en-suite European style bathrooms that are large and luxurious with imported marble, deck tubs, and glass enclosed showers. Two of the bathrooms also have private outdoor shower gardens.
In addition to the seven bedrooms the 13,000 square feet of living space includes: two living rooms separated by a bar, one indoors with a spectacular vaulted ceiling and mosaics imported from Morocco, the other on a covered terrace with views of the pool and sea below, a dining room that seats 14, a television room that can also convert into an eighth bedroom, a powder room, and a gourmet kitchen.
The house is equipped with cable televisions, VCRs, DVDs, a stereo system with a hook-up for guest’s I-Pods, and a library of books, videos, DVDs, CDs and games. We have a computer with internet access for the guest’s use, a fax machine, and can provide a guest cell phone. We can also provide secretarial services if needed.
Grounds
Set within the landscaped exterior is a tennis court with covered pavilion and bar. Adjacent to the tennis court is a fitness center with a Precor EFX cross training machine, a treadmill, free weights, Cybex multi-station equipment, and TV. Cerulean can provide a personal trainer for the guest’s enjoyment, as well as water aerobic instructor, tennis instructor, and yoga instructor.
The 40x25 foot freshwater pool overlooks the sea and is suitable for swimming laps as well as just floating. There is a shallow edge that runs around the perimeter of the pool, which provides an ideal play space for children. Surrounding the pool is a 3000 square foot stone deck with plenty of lounge chairs, umbrellas and tables for dining al fresco.
On a deck above pool level is a Jaccuzzi situated in the perfect spot to relax with a cocktail and watch the sunset over the sea. Just below the pool level is beautiful Barnes Bay with a wide sandy beach for sunbathing, walking or collecting shells. Right off shore is a coral reef for easy snorkeling, and for the more adventurous there are sea kayaks available.
Cerulean has extensive tropical gardens including a marble meditation court with a waterfall. Our full time gardener ensures that the grounds always look their best and that fresh flowers are available in the rooms at all times.
Service
Cerulean prides itself on the extraordinary service it provides to its guests. Our general manager and chef work with our guests before they arrive to make sure their stay at Cerulean is tailored exactly to their desires. We can provide a myriad of services from boating and snorkeling trips, access to the new Greg Norman golf course in Anguilla, horseback riding, water skiing, swimming with the dolphins, or beach barbecues with a private steel band.
Our gourmet menus are custom designed for each guest, working with the foods that you like to eat. You pick when and where you want to dine; in our formal dining room, outdoors under the stars, or the children’s favorite – in front of the television.
Our staff has been carefully chosen and trained to offer service that is on a par with that of a five star hotel. Attentive, yet discrete and non-intrusive, they are there to make your vacation everything you want it to be. A few of the things that you can expect at Cerulean are: ongoing poolside and beach service, nightly turn down service, personal laundry service, exotic tropical drinks and hors d’oeuvres before dinner.
We can of course provide anything else that you may request, including secretary, baby sitter, personal trainer, additional security.
Seaflower Spa at Cerulean
Cerulean is pleased to offer services from the outstanding Seaflower Spa in the privacy of your own guest room. Seaflower is a family owned company located in the heart of East Hampton, which caters to an upscale and discerning clientele. At Cerulean we offer a range of therapies to relax, soothe and nourish your mind, body and soul, using Seaflower’s all natural and hand blended organic products to provide the most exquisite treatments. Treatments include Aromatherapy Facials for men and women, Bamboo, Ginger and Lemongrass Body Scrubs, Seaweed and Green Tea Body Masks, as well as Swedish and Deep Tissue Massages.
Kid’s Club
Children are always welcome at Cerulean and in fact many of our guests find that staying at a Villa is the ideal way to travel with children. It affords them a sense of freedom that may not be available at a hotel, while at the same time providing a smaller more confined space to keep them from wandering too far. Cerulean believes that “a happy child makes for a happy parent” and starting from this premise we are pleased to offer a supervised children’s program, something that sets us apart from many other villas. Children can choose from such exciting and diverse activities as swimming with dolphins, pony rides on a beach, glass bottom boat trips, treasure hunts, tennis clinics, and arts and crafts programs all under the supervision of our highly trained children’s coordinator. This not only affords children the opportunity to do something they would really like to do, but it also gives parents a few hours off each day to do what they would like to do, whether it be go for a snorkel, read a book in peace, or have a nap. Each program is suited to the specific ages and desires of the children, and can be scheduled around the whole family’s timetable.
