Description
Dieppe Bay House is a beautiful ‘off the beaten track’ sea front villa - the perfect place for a fabulous idyllic Caribbean escape. It is located at the end of a rural road, five minutes drive from the village of Falmouth.
Without being isolated, the house enjoys privacy being surrounded by its own gardens with Dieppe Bay at the end of the lawn. The main entrance leads into a protected inner courtyard where the front door opens into the large, open plan reception room.
With its own
swimming pool and large tropical gardens, the house sits on the western shore of Falmouth Harbour in the south of Antigua. There are stunning views across the sea to the distant masts of the Antigua Yacht Club and out to the open ocean.
The well-equipped
kitchen with open vaulted limed wood ceiling has a fridge/freezer; gas oven and hob; dishwasher; coffee machine; microwave; blender; toaster as well as all the usual kitchenware.
The south-east facing terrace is completely enclosed with a low level fence with gate leading to the pool area and garden. The attractive pool has a natural feel with a river pebble border and Antiguan sand stone decking leading to the gazebo. It is well protected by shrubs and plants. There are plenty of comfortable sun loungers to use at the pool, on the terrace or at the beach.
The ‘piece de resistance’ of Dieppe Bay House is the 500sq ft
master bedroom on the first floor with it’s own 30ft seaview terrace and a rear balcony overlooking the courtyard. This beautiful, light room has windows on two sides and breathtaking views of the sea. With a polished wood floor, the main bedroom has a Kingsize (US Queensize) four poster bed with mosquito netting and other fine pieces of antique furniture. Ensuite bathroom with bath and separate shower, walk in wardrobe and TV/DVD/CD player with ipod docking station.
The
second double bedroom is also upstairs and has its own private balcony overlooking the gardens and sea beyond. Its own shower room with basin and toilet is right next door.
The
other three bedrooms are on the ground floor. The Sea-View room has French windows leading onto a private area of the terrace and is furnished in a colonial style. This room has the option of being made up as a double or twin. The seaview room has its own bath/shower room next door.
Bedrooms four and five have twin beds - each with a ‘truckle’ giving large families the option of sleeping four in each of these rooms. Both bedrooms have ensuite shower rooms. There is also a separate cloakroom with toilet and basin.
All bedrooms have personal safes, air conditioning, shutters with mosquito screens and all beds have mosquito nets.
The
garden has an ‘island’ feel to it – planted with banana, coconut, mango, papaya, hibiscus, flamboyant, sea grape and may other indigenous plants. Some well established palm and almond trees provide welcome shade from the strong sun. A large lawn area doubles up as cricket pitch, football field and many other uses!
Where the garden meets the beach, a secluded barbecue area has been created with home-made rustic benches and a hammock. A garden shower can be found at the gazebo.
Let someone else do the work….
