The British Virgin Islands aren't known for their shopping. Unfortunately, there's no duty-free shopping here. You may be able to find some good buys in English china, which is imported from England duty-free. The liquor bargains aren't great, but prices can be slightly better than at home.
Most of Tortola's shopping is centered around Road Town and Wickham's Cay, next to the marina. Look for jewelry, perfume, cotton dresses, swimwear, and native handicrafts.
If you plan to eat in at your villa, consider visiting Ample Hamper, in Villa Cay Marina, Wickham's Cay I. They stock some of the best packaged food and bottled wines on the island, along with fresh fruit and tantalizing cheeses.
If you like Caribbean music, you might want to find a CD by Tortola's main recording star, Quito Rymer. They can be found in numerous gift shops throughout the island, or at Quito's Gazebo, a restaurant/club in Cane Garden Bay.
Pusser's Rum is a popular souvenir, and some of Pusser's other signature logo merchandise, such as their duffels and outerwear, are high-quality. Pusser's Company Store is on Main Street & Waterfront Road in Road Town.
Finally, check out Sunny Caribbee Herb and Spice Company, on Main Street in Road Town ((284) 494-2178). The aroma of spices here makes this factory an attraction in and of itself. The West Indian hangover cure and Arawak love potion are two famous specialties, but they also sell spices, seasonings, teas, condiments, and finer handicrafts. It's definitely worth a visit!
