Turks and Caicos Telecommunications
Guests of Turks and Caicos villas shouldn't have any trouble keeping in touch with the outside world. Most Turks and Caicos villa rentals have phones with direct international dialing as well as cable or satellite televisions. Some villas have internet capabilities as well.
The phone system here is similar to the US, with a three-digit area code (649) plus seven digits. You may find that it's cheaper to dial internationally using a phone card; they're available at grocery stores and other stores throughout the island. Check with your cell phone provider about roaming prior to traveling if you want you use your cell phone. There doesn't seem to be a standard for what works and what doesn't. Cell phones are also available for rent at TCI Online / MediaWorks, in the Ports of Call shopping mall in Grace Bay.
If your villa doesn't have internet access and you want to catch up, try visiting one of the island's Internet cafés: TCI Online / MediaWorks in the Ports of Call shopping center and the "Computer Guy" on the Leeward Highway.
