Virgin Gorda Transportation

Most visitors to Virgin Gorda will want to get around the island a bit to make the most of their vacation. If you plan to travel infrequently and are in a small party, i.e. 2 people, then you might choose to just use taxis; however, in most cases, we recommend getting a rental car so that you can really see all that the island has to offer. Taxi service is unreliable, and as there are no street addresses on the island, taxi drivers may have a hard time finding your villa. There are a number of rental car agencies in Virgin Gorda. You'll need a temporary BVI driver's license, available through your car rental agency for US$10, and your valid home license. Keep in mind that we drive on the left side of the road in Virgin Gorda! Many steering wheels are also on the left (the "American" side). Seatbelts are required by law. CaribbeanDays will gladly reserve a car for guests of our villas - just ask!

You may want to take advantage of the calm waters surrounding Virgin Gorda by ferrying to Tortola for the day. Ferry service offered by Speedy's (284-495-5240) and the North Sound Express (284-495-2138) is frequent, dependable, and affordable. Ferries depart from Spanish Town and Leverick Bay. Ferry schedules can be viewed at http://www.bvivacations.com/Ferry.html.
