Coyaba
Hillside, Teague Bay, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands
2 Bedrooms, 2½ Bathrooms
Maximum Occupancy: 4
Description
St. Croix is a crossroad of cultures where seven flags have flown since Columbus landed in 1493. But before Europeans came, peace-loving Arawaks inhabited the Caribbean—their word Coyaba means “a place of ease and rest, a haven where time is passed feasting and dancing after a bountiful harvest or a successful hunt.”
The villa named Coyaba waits, ready to become your haven of ease on St. Croix’s exclusive east end. Watch cloud shows by day or distant cruise ships by night—you’ll have panoramic views at all hours from Coyaba’s three-sided, teak and glass-enclosed gallery facing Buck Island. Peer through the telescope and cheer on the junior sailors during weekend dinghy regattas in Teague Bay below, home of the St. Croix Yacht Club. Just in front of your gallery is a spacious deck and pool for sunning and swimming—even a dining gazebo so you never have to come indoors until day’s end.
Two well-separated bedrooms, each with private bath, provide plenty of privacy for a family or two couples. Cheerful tropical furnishings from around the globe decorate every light-filled room. And a chef’s kitchen has everything needed to prepare for Coyaba–style feasting. You’ll love this peaceful country hillside where hawks and frigate birds soar, yet will find easy to stay connected if you want to—Coyaba is outfitted with a fax machine and internet access. The historic town of Christiansted is just 15 minutes away for sightseeing. At the foot of your hill, you’ll find a quiet beach, oceanfront restaurant, gourmet convenience store, and tennis courts. And you can play golf on the nine-hole course tucked practically outside your door—the easternmost course of the United States—or have a night out at the stylish Divi Carina Bay casino nearby.
Still, the best part of an island vacation is doing nothing at all, and Coyaba is specially designed for unwinding and staring at the sea. At night, while watching lights of the other Virgin Islands twinkle on across the sea, you’ll discover your tensions have dissolved—at beautiful, bountiful Coyaba.
