Buon giorno! That’s how you’ll greet the day at Villa D’estasi where the essence of Tuscany graces a Caribbean beach. With its terra cotta-style roof, ochre walls, and substantial furnishings that invite you to stretch out and relax, this fine home embodies the traditions and comforts of an Italian country house.
Yet it’s easy to imagine yourself on the Riviera or the Isle of Capri—for this villa is set like a jewel beside the azure Caribbean where waves sparkle outside beyond each pair of French doors. Swim, sun, or snorkel all day long right in your own backyard with a view of Buck Island just offshore.
An expansive great room greats you with a beamed wood ceiling, entertainment center, and ultra-comfortable leather sofa. At one end is the heart of any European-style home, a roomy country kitchen. With tumbled stone tile work, fine granite countertops, and stainless steel appliances, you’ll be equipped to prepare everything from antipasto to zabaglione in style. Dine at a square table for eight under an old world-style chandelier, or step outside for al fresco meals on a breezy balcony that runs the length of the house facing the sea.
The other end of the great room leads to the first of four bedrooms, this one a master suite with an elegant carved four poster bed, sitting area, and walk-in glass tile shower with twin heads. Steps lead down to the pool level where three more equally-comfortable bedrooms are situated, each with a private bath and European-style carved furnishings to ensure sweet dreams. French doors open from each room to the spacious patio and pool—just steps away for convenient sunning. A refrigerator and kitchenette are thoughtfully provided on this level, too, handy when you step in during a day spent outdoors.
Your evenings will present choices—whether to turn east to one of the island’s favorite seafood restaurants set on a nearby powdery beach, or to head west just 15 minutes to plentiful choices for fine dining. Try your hand at the casino, or just spend a relaxing evening at home. Either way, at the end of the day, you’ll say buona notte, knowing that every night is a good one at Villa d’estasi where you’ll be lulled peacefully to sleep by the sounds of surf outside your door.
